Bishkek blog: life in the Kyrgyzstan capital

Eight months teaching English in central Asia

Phew, what a scorcher

OK, arrived in Bishkek in the middle of the night lugging huge bag of assorted thermals and no shorts. It’s now about 11am and has just hit 30 outside.

At the airport, managed to miss the English school’s manager (where I’m going to be teaching) and ended up borrowing the currency exchange woman’s mobile.

In a cybercafe down the road from the schoo – off for a look around.

  1. And did the poor curency woman get her mobile back or is that simply not the culture round there?

Why a cybercafe when you’re all iPad’ed up? It’s wasted on you.

    • Hey, if she wanted to hang onto her 4g iphone, she shouldn’t have given it to a stranger.
